The more I learn about keto, the more I realize that it’s the little things I need to learn. Many of the food we consume are naturally keto friendly, but it’s what goes on them that can be problematic. With so many wonderful food bloggers and recipe makers out there, it is pretty easy to find substitutes for those items that could mess with your carb intake. One of those items appears to be baking powder, which I normally use for this wonderfully easy airy fryer chicken wings recipe, because it helps to crisp the wings to perfection. The baking powder creates little bubbles that make the skin crispy, as if it were deep fried, and I really like this. Not to worry, though! I’ve found previously that we can make our own, natural low-carb baking powder by combining one part baking soda with two parts cream of tartar. Easy peasy!
I was happy about this, and tried it on these wings. This is a recipe right on Pampered Chef’s website, and one of the first I tried when I bought my Pampered Chef Air Fryer. They were perfect, and I can’t wait to share them with you. Let’s jump right in!!
What you’ll need:
- 2-pounds chicken wings
- 2 teaspoons baking powder (homemade has less carbs!)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Oil for spritzing
Hot Sauce
- ½ cup butter
- 1/3 cup hot sauce
Instructions
Pat the wings dry with paper towels. Combine the wings, baking powder, salt and pepper in a medium bowl. Let stand for 5 minutes. Add the oil and toss to combine.

Spray the Air Fryer trays with oil and divide the wings evenly between both trays. Position on the top and middle racks.

Turn the wheel to select the AIR FRY setting; press the wheel to select. Turn the wheel to adjust the time to 30 minutes. Press the wheel to start. Switch the trays halfway through cooking (you’ll hear beeps as a reminder).

Meanwhile, combine the butter and hot sauce in a small saucepan and slowly melt the butter over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally.

When the timer is up, remove the wings from the air fryer. Toss the wings in the sauce, or serve on the side. Serve also with celery sticks and some blue cheese. Delicious!

Please let me know if you give this recipe a try. Let’s make great food together!
